Ghana and Morocco Forge Stronger Trade and Investment Ties

A gift was presented to Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare

Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has advanced efforts to strengthen bilateral ties with Morocco during the second day of her official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

She held high-level bilateral talks with Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari.
The discussions centred on enhancing collaboration in agriculture within the framework of South-South cooperation.
Both sides agreed to boost institutional cooperation to facilitate the exchange of technical expertise and best practices, particularly in irrigation and other key areas of agricultural development.
The Hon. Minister later met with Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, President of ASMEX, the Federation of Moroccan Exporters.
Discussions highlighted the importance of a win-win cooperation model between Ghana and Morocco, with a focus on deepening implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area and advancing the Made-in-Africa agenda to boost intra-African trade and industrial development.
Hon.. Minister Ofosu-Adjare emphasised the strategic role of integrated value chains in driving Africa’s economic transformation.
She also announced plans for a Ghana–Morocco Business Forum in Accra later this year, extending an invitation to ASMEX members to participate.
The Hon. Minister’s itinerary included a visit to Lesieur Cristal, a leading Moroccan agro-industrial company producing edible oils, soaps, detergents, and condiments.
She toured the production facilities and observed operations, gaining insight into Morocco’s agro-industrial sector.
Later, she held discussions with the leadership of FENELEC, the federation representing Morocco’s electrical, electronics, and renewable energy industry. During the engagement, the Trade Minister presented Ghana’s 24-Hour Economic Policy, emphasizing that its success hinges on sufficient and sustainable power supply, touching on the investment opportunities in Ghana’s Special Economic Zones and agro-parks.
