Ghana: 13 Dead, 5 Critically Injured in Fatal Accident on Sege-Tema Highway

13 people have died in a fatal road traffic accident on the Sege-Tema highway in the Greater Accra region, involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace.

The accident was reported to have occurred on Wednesday, September 2, as the vehicles were travelling on the Sege highway towards Ada.

According to a post by Assistant Divisional Officer at the Ghana National Fire Service, Alex King Nartey, on Facebook, the accident was reported on the Sege-Tema highway, with officers from the Sege Fire Station responding to the incident.

A total of 18 casualties were recorded. Sadly, 13 of the victims died, while the remaining five are in critical condition and are receiving medical attention at the Sege Polyclinic.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, including what caused the two vehicles to collide, have not yet been disclosed.

The incident adds to concerns over road safety and the need for motorists to exercise greater caution on Ghana’s highways.

Road users are being urged to observe speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking and remain vigilant, particularly on busy highways.
