GFP, Youngstars To Train School Children In Peace Building

School childrenGenerations For Peace (GFP) in partnership with Youngstars Development Initiative would be training school children of St. Peters Mission School at Ashaley-Botwe for a period of nine (9) months.

The children who are between the ages of 11 and 14 years would be taken through peace building through sports activities aimed at reducing bullying among the students.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Country Director for Youngstars Development Initiative, Mrs. Naa Adei Boateng said: “The Sport For Peace sessions will foster acceptance, responsibility and trust, all of which motivates the children to work and live together in the school and the community.”

 In addition, she said she wants to employ sports as a means to unite children from different class and age levels. I truly believe sports can help to bridge the gap between social divides – step by step and also help to reduce bullying.”“Every child no matter how they misbehave have goodness inside them, we will use the peace building activities to bring them out”.

Youngstars Development Initiative is an international nongovernmental organisation that focuses on enhancing leadership among youth, improving the competencies of youth organisations involved in development programmes, and strengthening youth representation on issues that affect their well being for nation building.

 

Generations For Peace (GFP) is a Jordan-based global non-profit organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein and Sarah Kabbani Al Feisal, dedicated to sustainable peace building and conflict transformation through sport, arts, advocacy, dialogue and empowerment.

GFP is listed in the “Top 100 NGOs in the World” for 2013 by The Global Journal. The ranking assesses non-governmental organisations according to innovation, impact, and sustainability. GFP is also the only peace-through-sport organisation officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
