Eidul Fitr 2019 & 100th Birthday: MTN Ghana Supports National Chief Imam

Accra, Ghana, June 1, 2019//-MTN Ghana has presented cash and assorted items to National Chief Imam in Accra towards the celebration of this year’s Eidul Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan.

MTN supported this year Eidul Fitr celebration with cash and items worth several thousand Ghana cedi. The donations included cheque, bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil, boxes of mineral water, crates of assorted soft drinks, two rams and MTN airtime.

 Also, the telecoms company as part of the 100th birthday of the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Dr Usumanu Nuhu Sharubutu presented a cheque of GHC30,000 to support the Chief Imam’s Educational Fund to aid his quest to promoting education in Ghana.

Additionally, MTN Ghana initiated Quranic recitation today in honour of his the 100th birthday which fell on 23 April 2019. Sheikh Sharubutu was born on 23th April 1919.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the residence of the National Chief Imam at Fadama in Accra, General Manager of Distributive Trade of MTN Ghana, Abubakar Mohammed said: “A few people live to witness their century birthday in such great condition”.

This celebration clearly highlights Allah’s favour and blessings over your life and MTN is happy to be associated with you”.

He continued: “At MTN, we see your persona as a symbol of the values we stand for. You mirror our values of integrity, relationship and leadership-which we hold very dear to our brand. Over the past years, MTN Ghana has been enjoyed tremendous support and collaboration with the Office of the National Chief Imam”.

Eidul Fitr donation

This donation, according to Mr Mohammed is the company’s support towards His Eminence century celebration and this year’s Eidul Fitr.

 For 12 consistent years, MTN Ghana has been supported the Chief Imam during Eidul Fitr celebrations by way of donations and organizing key events in Nima and Accra New Town, all in an effort to foster peaceful coexistence in the communities.

Similarly, Mr Mohammed added that the company has been supporting the National Hajj Board annually in the organization of the pilgrimage to Mecca for the past six.

 In a short speech, the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Usumanu Nuhu Sharubutu thanked MTN Ghana for the continuous support and prayed for Allah’s abundant blessings for the company and its management.

Later,  Imams and Elders of the Muslim community received the items on behalf National Chief Imam and the Muslim community.
