Customs, DVLA Clear Kantanka Cars For Market

One of the registered Kantanka SUVs produced by Kantanka Automobile Company LimitedThe Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), have finally cleared Kantanka vehicles to hit the roads of Ghana and beyond.

This follows the successful completion of the numerous checks conducted by
the above mentioned institutions.

Customs was specific in checking and approving the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) conformity with ISO 3779 and IS0 3780.

DVLA on the other hand, checked the vehicle examination certificate from ECL. It also conducted physical checks on the VIN.

Following the clearance, the first vehicle, a SUV, was registered with registration number GN 1080 – 15 last Thursday May 14, 2015.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kantanka Group, Kwadwo Sarfo Jnr, commenting on the development declared “now that the vehicles have passed all tests and certifications and can be registered, they are ready for sale”.

Early last year, Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, manufacturers of Kantanka vehicles, announced to sell in commercial quantities by the fourth quarter of 2014 when it commissions its assembling plat at Gomoa Mpota.

The date was subsequently postponed to the first quarter of 2015 due to delays in conducting the vehicles through further tests and certifications.

However, with the clearance from the Customs and the DVLA, the vehicles, especially, the SUVs and pick-ups are now on sale with the saloon cars expected to come on stream by end of 2015, according to the company.

Mr. Sarfo Jnr commenting further said “After years of hard work researching to make this dream come true, we can confidently announce to you today that we are ready to sell in commercial quantities”.

He urged Ghanaians to help boost the local economy by purchasing cars produced by his outfit.

“If we do not import vehicles outside the country but purchase those produced by Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, Ghana will be a better place to live”, he added.
