Confirmed COVID-19 Cases In Ghana Jump To 214

Accra, Ghana, April 5, 2020//-Ghana has added nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total count of cases to 214, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) who coordinates tests with the CRO Testing Services.

Six of the cases were recorded in the country’s epicentre for the pandemic, Greater Accra while three are from the Ashanti Region, it added.

A 37-year-old woman with no travel history nor contact with a confirmed case is among the cases from Accra. While traveler under mandatory quarantine who had initially tested negative but a repeat test proved otherwise.

Four are contacts of confirmed cases with no symptoms and were detected during the enhanced contact tracing and testing.

Of the three cases from Ashanti Region, two are Ghanaians who returned from France for the past 14 days. But third case is a Ghanaian who has no travel history nor contact with any confirmed case.

As at April 4, 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 214 cases of Covid-19 with five deaths.

Currently, the regions reporting cases are the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Upper West Eastern and Upper East Region.

The Greater Accra Region has recorded the most cases of 189 followed by the Ashanti Region with 12.

The Northern Region has recorded 10 cases while the Upper West Region, Eastern Region and Upper East Region have all recorded single cases.

Most of the cases are reported from routine/enhanced surveillance activities.
