Blue Ocean Investments Supports Community Festival

The Blue Ocean Team with the Chief of New Takoradi, Nana Kwesi Abeka 

New Takoradi, Ghana, 30th October, 2017 –Blue Ocean Investments Limited, the second largest bulk distribution company (BDC) of fuels in Ghana, showed its solidarity with the New Takoradi community by donating to support this year’s celebration of the Kundum festival.

The donation comprised of six bags of rice, four gallons of cooking oil, eight crates of beer, six boxes of mineral drinks, 10 boxes of mineral water, two bottles of Schnapps and one cow.

In addition to this, Blue Ocean donated a cash amount of two thousand Ghana cedis (GHS2,000.00) to the community festivities.

Speaking on behalf of the Blue Ocean team, Henry Osei, Deputy General Manager of Blue Ocean Investments said that this donation was to symbolise Blue Ocean’s support of the New Takoradi community, where one of its depots is located.

“We are glad to be able to support the New Takoradi community, home to one of our depots. The community has welcomed us with open arms, and we believe that supporting the Kundum festival, central to New Takoradi culture, is one way of showing our gratitude to them,” said Mr. Osei.

Michael Mensah, Operations Manager of Blue Ocean Investments, highlighted the importance of this donation to effective operations in the community.

“Earning the social license to operate is very important to what we do. It is good for the community in which we operate to feel the benefit of our presence here, so I am happy that we have been able to make a worthy contribution,” said Mr. Mensah.

Receiving the donation, the Chief of New Takoradi, Nana Kwesi Abeka, expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the community to Blue Ocean Investments for making this donation to the community.

“The Kundum festival has great significance in our culture, so we appreciate Blue Ocean Investment’s support and acknowledgement of this,” said Nana Kwesi Abeka.

Following the donation, a courtesy call was made on the paramount chief of the Takoradi traditional area, Osahene Katekyi Busumakura III, Omanhene of Takoradi.

The Omanhene welcomed Blue Ocean Investments to the community once more, and encouraged the BDC to continue with such positive community engagements as they would go a long way to further deepen the relationship between the company and the community.

Blue Ocean Investments has made significant investments in oil storage infrastructure in Ghana. In addition to its state-of-the-art storage facility in Takoradi which stores and distributes gasoline and gasoil, the company owns and operates two storage terminals in Tema storing Aviation fuel, Gasoil and Gasoline, as well as a depot at the Kotoka International Airport that stores Aviation fuel.
