Autonomous Port of Lomé: 60 Million For Environmental Protection in 2023

Port of Lomé

This year, 60 million FCFA will be disbursed to guarantee the protection of the environment at the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL). This envelope should finance several activities planned in the 2023 environmental action plan of the logistics platform, which was presented in the middle of last week.

Through this annual plan, the PAL authorities mainly plan to ensure the healthiness of the port public domain and ships and to sustainably manage pollution and nuisances. They also aim to ensure the safety and health of workers in the logistics area.

Also, the various actions planned through this plan, it is indicated, should contribute to reducing the environmental impact linked to the operation of port services and participate in the decarbonization of the PAL.

According to PAL Director General, Rear Admiral Fogan Kodjo Adégnon, the issue of the environment is a matter that concerns the sea, the land and the air ” Like the phenomenon of coastal erosion, which high level, it is also a question of taking into account the environmental problem, as a whole, for a better management of our port platform”, he declared.

As a reminder, this plan meets the requirements of the ISO 14001 certification, version 2015 for the Environment, which recommends the implementation of an environmental management system.
