Airtel Keeps Dreams Of Determined Persons Alive

Lucy Quist, Airtel Ghana MDTHE  dreams and aspirations of a 17 year old Benedicta, a student of Asesewa Senior High School (SHS) to became a trained nurse has been given a lifeline by Airtel Ghana’s award winning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme ‘Airtel Touching Lives’.

The future of Benedicta’s education hanged in the balance as she battled the odds with determination to become a role model to her generation in future.

Her dream is to become a nurse so she could also contribute to the development of her community; but her education was under threat, as she faced challenges in paying her fees and buying books for her studies at school.

Her Uncle, Brupeh Bismark, tries his best to provide his nieces’ educational needs but has problems of his own making his efforts very limited.

As a result, Benedicta works after school and often skips classes to make extra money to cater for her school needs. During vacations she sells water to help pay her fees.

Also as the youngest in her family, she has a duty to attend to all errands and household chores leaving her with very little time with her books

Selorm , Benedicta’s teacher and nominator says in spite of her challenges, her determination at school is commendable.

“She is focused and a determined student .All things being equal she can make ‘A’ in all her subjects.”

Airtel Touching Lives has therefore offered to fund her education through SHS together with books to ensure she excels in her final examination.

Additionally, if she makes the grades to gain her admission into Nursing Training College, Airtel has guaranteed to foot all her bill during her training to help her become a successful nurse.

Episode 4 of the third season of ‘Airtel touching Lives’, also highlights the hard work of Fatau, an amputee at Salaga, in the Northern Region who has given his all to ensure that his community advance through access to information.

Fatau has set up a community radio station that is serving the communication needs and fast uniting the people of Salaga.

For his determination to be the change maker in his community, Airtel is supporting him with a brand new antenna and a transmitter that would enhance the reach of his station so everybody in the community and beyond can listen to the station.

Additionally, has provided Fatau with two bicycles, and a brand new motorbike with accessories for running errands at the radio station.
