AIMS Launches Applications for Its African Master’s in Machine Intelligence Program

Kigali, Rwanda, 21 February 2020//-The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) launched applications for the third intake of its matchless African Master’s in Machine Intelligence (AMMI).

It is a one-year intensive master’s program that provides brilliant young Africans with state-of-the-art training in machine learning and its applications, thanks to the partnership with Facebook and Google.
The AMMI program gathers an international set of African students who build strong ties based on academic excellence and intellectual growth, and have the common commitment to contribute to the future of Machine Learning in Africa.

It is imperative, as Prof. Moustapha Cisse (the Founder & Director of the AMMI program) said “to prepare AMMI students to lead the continent’s AI revolution”.

The current cohort of AMMI students is spread across two AIMS centers (AIMS Ghana and AIMS Rwanda) and includes 77 students with 32% female students coming from 18 African nations and follow in the footsteps of the outstanding past cohort who interned or in residency at MILA, IVADO, Vector Institute, Facebook, and others.

To apply, applicants should at least have a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering or an equivalent with strong mathematics background, be interested or have background in artificial intelligence/machine learning, and have demonstrated leadership skills & a Pan-African attitude.
