Africa’s economic landscape continues to evolve, but size is only part of the story.
According to the figures shown, South Africa ranks as Africa’s largest economy at $479.96 billion, followed by Egypt ($429.64 billion) and Nigeria ($377.37 billion).
What stands out is the difference between economic size and economic growth. Ethiopia, for example, ranks ninth by GDP but records the fastest growth rate among the top 10 at 9.20%.
For investors, businesses and policymakers, these numbers tell a bigger story:
Africa’s growth opportunities are becoming increasingly diverse.
The real question is not simply “Which country has the biggest economy?” but “Which economies are creating the strongest opportunities for investment, jobs and long-term wealth?”
