
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, senior officials of the association, and executives of Betpawa today commissioned a newly constructed standard artificial football pitch at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
The multimillion Ghana cedi pitch, which was funded by Betpawa, a leading betting company in the country marked the completion of the first phase of a broader project aimed at boosting football infrastructure in Ghana.
Mr Okraku who commissioned phase one of the Betpawa Pitch in the early hours of the day ahead of the convocation of the 30th Congress of the GFA said he was excited that the construction of the modern astro turf is crucial to the growth and developmental drive of the Ghanaian FA.
He added that the facility would play a key role in the GFA’s broader developmental strategy aims at unearthing more talent and providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for the beautiful game of football.
The Betpawa’s investment in the project according to him reflects a commitment to supporting Ghanaian football at all levels. The first phase focused on the construction of the pitch, while phase two will see the addition of a changing room, a VIP stand, and another stand for fans.
Phase two of the facility will comprise the construction of a changing room, a VIP stand and an additional stand for football fans who throng the centre to watch games.

Speaking to journalists after the commissioning, Africa Business Development Manager at Betpawa, Charles Tape, said: “GFA is one of our main partners here and, we are committed to helping grow we are also committed to help the growth of Ghana football”.
With our support, we are aiming to unearth more talent for the game and of the country, he added.
The GFA President and Betpawa shareholder, Oluwatosin Ajibade cut the sod for the construction of the pitch about a year or so ago as part of the approved master plan for the GFA Technical Centre.
It is expected to boast a mini stadium to host international matches, a hotel facility, an administration block, Beach Soccer and Futsal pitches as well as several natural and artificial football training pitches across the country.
