Accra, Ghana//-The Edge Credit Union, a leading credit union located at Madina, a suburb of Accra, has marked its second (2nd ) anniversary with a series of community activities
The institution, unlike others, marked its anniversary not in boardrooms, but in the community with events that put people firmly ahead of profit.
The anniversary was observed not with fanfare alone, but with purposeful action across the Adenta and Madina communities, which host the majority of the customers of the fast-growing credit union.
Kicking off the celebrations on an inspiring note, The Edge Credit Union took financial education straight to the classroom at Adenta Community School.
Young pupils were immersed in lessons covering the basics of saving, spending, and budgeting, grounding them in money habits that will last a lifetime.
The initiative, according to the managers of The Edge Credit Union, was met with enthusiasm from both teachers and pupils, who appreciated the credit union’s commitment to raising children who are not just book-smart, but money-smart too.
The union then turned its attention to the environment, leading a community cleanup exercise that saw staff and volunteers sweep through the neighbourhood, clearing waste and restoring pride to shared public spaces.
The exercise reflected a growing resolve among local institutions to take ownership of the communities they serve.

In a complementary gesture of environmental stewardship, a tree-planting exercise was carried out at the Madina Magistrate Court, adding green cover to one of the area’s civic landmarks.
Officials noted that the trees planted would serve as a lasting reminder of the credit union’s anniversary for years to come.
Rounding off the celebrations in high spirits was a football gala that brought together local football teams from across the community, which aimed at youth development and strengthening community bonds.

Speaking on the sidelines of the events, a representative of The Edge Credit Union expressed pride in the organisation’s journey and reaffirmed its dedication to being a true partner in community development. “We exist because of this community.
Hence, giving back is not just a gesture, it is a responsibility we gladly embrace”, the Branch Manager, Awo Sika Quarshie – Awusah said.
As the dust settles on a memorable anniversary, The Edge Credit Union leaves behind more than memories. It leaves cleaner streets, greener spaces, sharper young minds, and a community spirit that burns a little brighter, she added.
