Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has praised Zijin Golden Ridge Limited for its strong performance in Ghana, describing the company as an emerging giant poised to leave a lasting footprint on the country’s mining sector and across Africa.

Speaking at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s End-of-Year Appreciation and Partnership Reception in Accra, the Minister expressed the government’s confidence in the company’s operations barely eight months after it commenced activities in Ghana.

“We are very excited to be part of this important journey of seeing Zijin’s entry into Africa through Ghana,” the Minister said. “After just eight months in Ghana, we have already seen the signs of a giant that will leave a long-term footprint not only in Ghana but in Africa.

The examples we have seen in Zijin’s performance and excellence are what we believe will help lead the way for mining in Ghana.”

He assured the company of the continued support and cooperation of the Government of Ghana as it expands its operations and deepens its investment in the country.

The high-level reception brought together key government officials and industry leaders, including the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi; the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Samuel Amadu Basintale; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie; and the Chairman of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies, Tang Hong, alongside other distinguished stakeholders.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Leon Zhang, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana and its intention to build high-quality, responsible mining projects in close partnership with government and local stakeholders.

“Looking ahead, we seek to create more opportunities for deeper resource cooperation in Ghana,” Mr. Zhang said. “We will work hand in hand with the Government of Ghana and our partners to ensure the development of high-quality mining projects that deliver mutual benefit and shared value.”

He emphasised that Zijin Mining Group’s global success has been built on collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, principles the company is committed to advancing in Ghana.

“Zijin has long adhered to an open and collaborative approach. We are committed to deeper cooperation in areas such as resource development, technological innovation, green mining, and social responsibility, with the aim of achieving win-win outcomes,” he noted.

Mr. Zhang further acknowledged Ghana’s strategic importance in Africa’s mining landscape, describing the country as a natural partner for Zijin’s expansion on the continent.

“Zijin attaches great importance to Ghana’s mining industry and fully recognises Ghana’s unique role as a traditional mining powerhouse.

As Africa’s largest gold producer, with strong governance systems and a well-developed mining foundation, Ghana plays a pivotal role in shaping mining across West Africa and the continent as a whole,” he said.

The end-of-year reception served as both an appreciation of partnerships built in 2025 and a platform to reinforce Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s ambition to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s mining sector through operational excellence, responsible mining practices, and long-term socio-economic development.
