Accra, June 2, 2017//- Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF), a leading non-governmental organization in the youth development advocacy and empowerment space in Africa has re-affirmed its commitment to steadily contribute to nurturing future generations of African leaders.
The initiator and organizer of African Youth and Governance Conference (AYGC), a regional gathering of young leaders from over 40 countries across Africa and the diaspora, has announced in Accra ahead of its 9th edition in Nigeria this August that one of its major focal areas is to groom leaders for the continent.
“Our conference nurtures informed young leaders by taking participants through effective mentoring sessions and other activities that expose them to how bills, conventions and other agreements are formulated, debated and motions passed into resolutions. They learn how to co-operate and work in teams. We are grooming young leaders who are assertive and confident to responsibly contribute not only to the development of their individual countries but the overall development of Africa through dialogue and inclusiveness.” Seth Oteng, Executive Director of the renowned organization said.
“For emphasis,” Mr. Oteng added, “we do not want the youth to engage in violence to gain attention or waste their energies and potentialities hence our concentration on dialogue and inclusiveness.”
AYGC which, was first held in Ghana in 2009 has grown to become one of the most preferred regional youth leadership platforms on which, young Africans engage annually to deliberate on crucial issues affecting African youth in and out of the continent. In 2016, it was held in Johannesburg, South Africa with an attendance 150 delegates from across the continent.
In 2018, YBF will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of AYGC in Ghana as part of their activities in the year.
