Vodacom DRC Key to Digitalisation in the DRC-Director

The Director Enterprise Segment at Vodacom Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Hichem Andaloussi, is emphatic that Vodacom DRC is key to digitalisation in the country.

According to him, the company’s 20 years of presence in the DRC market has supported all Congolese in becoming digital.

Speaking at the ADEX 2022,  Mr Andaloussi said digitalization was the theme of this year’s event, and the Prime Minister himself was present with many ministers accompanying him. This shows a political and governmental willingness to digitise the country.”

“We are delighted to be participating in this ADEX 2022 once again. And, as every year, Vodacom is one of the main supporters of this event.

He further added, “Vodacom has a part to play in this digitisation as it can provide the technology for this digitization to take place through connectivity, increasing coverage in all regions, the creation of digital spaces that can house data for the government (through data centres) and connectivity to the international through submarine CAPs and outings to get international content.”

Additionally, the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, the Minister of Digital Affairs, Désiré Cashmir Kolongele Eberande, and the Minister of Communications, Patrick Muyaya, were present at the opening ceremony.  The Minister of Land Affairs and several other government officials also took part in this event.

Prime Minister Sama Lukonde expressed his hope that the outcome of these meetings will strengthen cooperation between African countries and companies working in the digital sector.

He stated during his opening speech, “The digital is increasingly becoming essential in the march towards the emergence and development of the world’s states. The Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, has placed digital technology at the heart of his action and the economic transformation of our country since the beginning of his mandate.

It is also through his vision that the country has adopted a National Digital Plan for 2025, which is based on four major axes, namely infrastructure, content, application uses, and regulation,” said Sama Lukonde.

He further highlighted that the establishment of the Ministry of Digital Affairs was key to coordinating the digital transformation process in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The 11th edition of the Africa Digital Expo (ADEX 2022) was launched on November 3rd, 2022 in Kinshasa at the Fleuve Congo Hotel.

Over 20 countries are participating in the two-day expo that aims to discuss the development of the digital economy in the country.
