Accra, Ghana//-United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana Ltd has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to informally introduce the Bank’s newly appointed executive leadership.
The delegation was led by the newly appointed Managing Director, Bernard Gyebi. Other members were Daniel Sarpong, Executive Director; Rita Robert-Mills, Head of Corporate Banking; and Henry Nii Dottey, Regional Head, Brand, Marketing & Corporate Communication for Anglophone West Africa & UBA Ghana.
The visit provided an important platform for the new MD to formally introduce himself to the Ga Mantse and reaffirm UBA Ghana’s deep respect for traditional authority and its commitment to operating in harmony with host communities.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Gyebi emphasised the bank’s recognition of the Ga State as its home and emphasised the importance of respect and collaboration in leadership.
“As a bank that has made Ghana its home, we recognise the Ga State as our host community. We believe strongly in respectful engagement, partnership, and shared progress, as we remain committed to supporting initiatives that uplift the people of this land,” he said.
He further reaffirmed UBA Ghana’s commitment to partnering with the office of the Ga Mantse on the Bank’s social intervention programmes, particularly initiatives that promote education and youth development, in line with the core values of the UBA Foundation.
In his response, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II welcomed the UBA delegation and urged the Bank to support the activities of the Ga Mantse Foundation, particularly in efforts aimed at expanding access to quality education for the Ga people.
The Ga Mantse lauded the leadership of UBA Ghana for the visit and the show of respect. His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was elated on the appointment of two Ghanaians at the pinnacle of the UBA Franchise in Ghana for the first time.
He noted that, “this proves that “the Bank is here to stay and makes UBA truly Ghanaian, leading the charge in Africa with financial intermediation.”
He wished the Managing Director and Executive Director well in their new roles and encouraged them to oversee the operations of the bank with humility and a passionate sense of responsibility to both stakeholders and the wider community.
