Bank of Ghana Goes Tough on MFI Operators
The Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Abdul Nashiru Issahaku has hinted that it intends to discourage Microfinance Institution (MFI) operators from setting up sophisticated branches using depositors’ funds in the country.
Banking Assets Shoot Up By 39.7 percent
TOTAL assets of banks operating in Ghana have risen significantly at the time that the Ghanaian economy is reported not to be doing well. From January to July this year, the country’s total banking assets increased by 39.7 percent to GH¢44.2 billion in July 2014.
