Yams produced in the country, which boast unparalleled premium quality in both ECOWAS and international commodities markets, is faced with unsatisfied demand due largely to lack of required policy interventions, private sector investment and the non-existence of a value chain.
African leaders including Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr. Ato Haliemariam Dessalegn, HE Paul Kagame, President, Mr Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary, UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson, AUC, and Mr El Moctar Djay, Minister of Finance, Mauritania, participated in the opening address of the Conference of Ministers 2015 in Addis Ababa.
