PHILIPS AVENT , a subsidiary of Philips Royal has launched its 30th anniversary in Ghana, with a promise to continue the manufacturing and selling of quality baby bottles, breast pumps, breastfeeding , and health accessories for its customers worldwide.
The Chief Executive Officer for Philips West Africa, Abdallah Khamis told journalists at the launch in Accra, Ghana that “We are exciting at the successes chalked after first product we introduced in 1984”.
Born in 1984 with the introduction of the first anti-colic feeding bottle that set the standard for feeding bottles worldwide, we have been there for each and every precious first, supporting moms and babies from pregnancy to playground, he added.
Mr Khamis stated: “Whether you are expecting your first baby or have recently become a new parent, we understand more than anyone how important it is for you to feel that you are doing what is best for your baby right from the start.
With you and your baby’s needs in mind, we believe that it is the tiny things which can make the biggest difference in parenthood.
That is why we pay such close attention to the tiniest details across our baby care and
infant feeding products. From nourishing your little one with all important breast milk to

He stated: “Philips AVENT is always on hand to offer expert advice for mothers and their babies and our range of breast pumps and breast care accessories are designed to help mothers in
their breastfeeding journey, making it easier and as comfortable as possible to give their
baby all the goodness of their breast milk”.
Activities to mark the anniversary
Mr Khamis used the occasion to announce about a month-long activities for the celebration. According to him, from 23rd September, mothers could visit the 40 participating retailer shops in Ghana and purchase Philips AVENT products worth over Ghs100 they would be awarded with a soother.
Philips AVENT soothers have an orthodontic nipple that is symmetrical shaped and respects the natural development of your baby’s palette and teeth, even if the soother ends up upside down in the mouth.

Baby of the Year Competition
Mr Khamis also used the press conference to unveil a TV Presenter, Kokui Selormey as ambassador for the Philips AVENT 30th anniversary celebration in Ghana.
Touching on the maiden baby competition, Mr Khamis said: ” We are looking for little stars aged between 0 and 18 months as part of the first Philips AVENT Baby of the Year Competition in Ghana. All babies are cute, and we want parents in Ghana to share their cutest baby pictures with us and they could win great prizes along the way”.
To take part, parents simply send a recent picture of their baby, with name, date and place of
birth and 30 words to describe their winning personality.
Entries can be sent between 23rd September to 21st October 2014 via in-store at participating retailers, WhatsApp (0501 294806), Facebook/PhilipsAVENTGhana or email (info@theoneevent.com). Each entry willreceive a Philips AVENT soother, according Philips officials at the launch.
A judging panel will select the top 30 babies based on the best pictures and descriptions and they will face the public vote via our Facebook page from 25th October to 8th November 2014. Voters will also win prizes. Our three finalists will win great prizes including a photo-shoot with a leading photographer and a hamper of Philips AVENT products as well as Philips items for mummy and daddy.
The winner will be announced at our 30th birthday party taking place in Accra in November 2014, they said.
The newly unveiled ambassador for the Philips AVENT 30th anniversary celebration in Ghana, Kokui Selormey, said: “I am very happy to be a part of this celebration as Philips AVENT has been a part of my life for 4 years, during which I have given birth to three boys. I have used their products with all my children and it is great that they are implementing a campaign like this in Ghana which engages with mums and includes them as part of this milestone celebration.”
A Pediatrician at the Princess Marie Louise Hospital, Accra, Dr Maame Yaa Nyarko urged mothers to continue feeding their babies with breast milk, emphasisng that, ” breast milk is, without doubt, best for your baby’s start in life. It provides natural protection against infection and helps your baby’s ongoing health and development”.
It is estimated that about 64% of mothers in Ghana practice exclusive breastfeeding for the recommended period of the first six monthsand during this year’s World Breastfeeding Week campaign, the Ghana Health Service issued a call for an improved breastfeeding practice among mothers.
