Philips AVENT Ends 30Th Anniversary With Baby Awards

PhilipsPHILIPS AVENT , a subsidiary of Philips Royal has drawn down the curtains of its month-long 30th anniversary celebrations with the awards of the winners of the maiden Baby of the Year Competition.

At the birthday party, the winner of the baby of the year competition as selected by the judges was Zoe Gyocsi. With Ariel Kwasi Kafui Nannor in second place and Alexander-Michael Jude Kwabena Ewusi Arthur coming in third.

The finalists and winner were all awarded great prizes including photo-shoot with a leading photographer and a hamper of Philips AVENT products as well as Philips items for mum and dad.

The winner becomes the face of the campaign in 2015 and their win will be publicised widely via the media. In all, over 200 babies entered into the first Philips AVENT Baby of the Year Competition which was a good response and the judging panel whittled it down to 30 babies.

The public voted and the top three made it through to the finals.

The General Manager for Philips Lighting, West Africa, Felix Darko, who addressed participants at forecourt of the Accra Mall said: “We at Philips AVENT are proud to celebrate this milestone with our cherished consumers here in Ghana.

For thirty years, we have worked hand-in-hand with healthcare professionals, clinicians and moms to develop a long series of ‘first’ products, allowing us to share your most precious moments as parents.

So it was only fitting to bring the celebration here where our products are very popular.” He added: “The Philips AVENT Baby of the Year Competition is here to stay as it was a success and allowed us to actively engage with our consumers.

We promise Ghanaians that the competition will be even more exciting next year.” To celebrate this milestone occasion and to thank Ghanaians for taking part in the first baby of the year competition, guests were treated to illuminating discussions about parenthood hosted by the birthday ambassador Kokui Selormey, Philips AVENT product demonstrations, experts offering advice on all areas of childcare, entertainment for the kids and food for all.

At the launch of the 30th anniversary, the former Chief Executive Officer for Philips West Africa, Abdallah Khamis noted: “We are exciting at the successes chalked after first product we introduced in 1984″. Born in 1984 with the introduction of the first anti-colic feeding bottle that set the standard for feeding bottles worldwide, we have been there for each and every precious first, supporting moms and babies from pregnancy to playground, he added.

Dignitaries including the Honorable Dela Sowah (Deputy Minister of Gender, Children & Social Protection), Maweuna Trebarh (CEO of GIPC) Akofa Edjeani (actress), Eugenia Tachie-Menson (Vlisco Ambassador & Founder of Spelling Bee Ghana) graced the occasion with their children and took part in the festivities.
