MTN Ghana Shows Class @ CIMG Awards

MTN LogoMTN Ghana was the only company to have picked three awards at the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) awards over the weekend.

The three awards representatives of the leading telecom service provider in the country took home were: Outdoor Advert of the year, MTN Mobile Money; Print Media Advert of the year, MTN Just 4 U; and TV Advert of the year, MTN Ntosuo. These three awards were won in the media category of the CIMG awards scheme.

Also, MTN’s arch-rivals, Vodafone and Airtel took home two awards each.

On the night, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana, Haris Broumidis, dressed in smart red (Vodafone corporate colour) apparel, led his team to take the Telecom Company of the year award, while the TV Programme of the year award also went to Vodafone Healthline.

Similarly, the Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Lucy Quist led a high powered delegation to take home two awards; namely Marketing-Oriented Company of the year and Brand Activation Programme of the year (Airtel Rising Stars).

In the banking sector, Out of the 29 banks operating in the West African country, only three took home awards. They were United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana, Fidelity Bank and Stanbic Bank Ghana.

Officials of UBA Ghana, led by the Head of Corporate Communications, Linda Narh, received the Radio Advert of the year for the ‘UBA Baby Crying’ advert. While the Bank of the year and Product of the year went to Fidelity Bank and Stanbic Bank Ghana respectively.

Other CIMG Hall of Fame award winners were Motor Firm 2013 went to Toyota Ghana; Retail Outlet of the year 2013 was won by Melcom Group of Companies (for seven consecutive years); Insurance Company (General) of the year 2013; Petroleum Company of the year; Not-For-Profit; and Internet Service Provider of the year went to Vanguard Assurance, Total Ghana, Business Sector Advocacy Challenge Fund (BUSAC Fund) and Busy Internet respectively.

Citi FM, an Adabraka based radio station was adjudged the Media Organisation of the year,, while its morning show -Citi Breakfast Show – floored other radio stations to win the Radio Programme of the year award. The Emerging Brand of the year award went to Koko King.
