MTN Ghana Poised to Create Sustainable Digital Solutions to Impact 100K Lives by 2025

Accra, Ghana//-MTN Ghana says its vision is to create sustainable digital solutions that impact communities and touch 100K lives in the country by 2025 is on course.

 

To this end, the telecom company said it would train 15,000 people in job readiness & mentorship, 50,000 in career guidance, 1,400 job placements, and 34,000 in digital &financial skill training across the country.

The Chief Corporate Service and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, Madam Adwoa Wiafe, made this known at a media and stakeholder forum in Accra.

“We continue to embrace innovation to drive social change, nurture effective collaborations, and empower individuals in underserved communities”, she emphasised.

Madam Wiafe reiterated the company’s unalloyed commitment to lead the charge in driving inclusive growth and sustainable development for categories of people in the West African country.

Commenting on the superiority of the MTN mobile app, she explained that the app is equipped with cutting-edge features, and it is expected to benefit more users, including members of the visually impaired community.

Madam Wiafe underscored the importance of the app to the company’s digital inclusion efforts, saying that the mobile app is an innovative way to further a more inclusive digital space for all.

Additionally, other services offered by the app are insurance, lending, and payment solutions. It also aims to enhance cross-border engagements, which can be the next level of MTN’s digital expansion across Africa.

“MTN is committed to creating an inclusive digital ecosystem that empowers every Ghanaian, regardless of their circumstances, to participate in the digital economy. Our mobile app is a key component in achieving this, offering features that prioritise accessibility and advanced financial services”.

Touching on the company’s social impact strategy, Madam Wiafe said the company would continue to focus on providing employment opportunities through its expansive agent networks across the country.

MTN Ghana seeks to foster job creation and entrepreneurship, empowering communities to thrive in a rapidly digitising world, she stated.

The company is also paying attention to the environment and climate issues, which are critical to the company’s long-term commitment to eco-responsibility, social impact, economic growth, and ethical governance.

Project Zero, the company’s flagship sustainability initiative, focuses on environmental responsibility by aiming to reduce MTN’s carbon footprint. “Going green within the next five years is not just a target—it’s a promise”.

Madam Wiafe did not mince words when she indicated that MTN Ghana’s innovation and technology are key drivers of the country’s economic growth, which enables businesses and individuals to engage more effectively and efficiently in the digital economy.
