
MTN Pulse, in partnership with Stanbic Bank, today trained 80 young entrepreneurs in a day-long Digital Skills training workshop at the Stanbic Bank Head office in Accra.
Speaking on the purpose of the collaboration with Stanbic Bank, Senior Manager of Consumer Marketing at MTN Ghana, Nana Asantewaa Amegashie, explained that the collaboration is aimed at supporting the youth with various initiatives to be successful.
She said the training is a significant step towards shaping the future “of our youth by equipping them with the essential tools and digital skills they need to excel in this rapidly changing world”.
Madam advised them that digital literacy is no longer optional, emphasising that it is the gateway to both personal growth and professional development in this modern era.
“Whether you want to start your own business, gain employment or simply improve your everyday life, digital skills are the foundation that will propel you forward. That is why today’s event is so important”.
MTN, together with Stanbic Bank, is committed to empowering the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders to help address the challenges of the country, Madam Amegashie said.
“We believe in the potential of every young person here, and our collaboration aims to ensure that you are not just participants in the digital economy but key players driving its success”.
Ebenezer Terkpe of MTN Foundation, who introduced participants to the MTN Skills Academy platform, advised them to take the training and digital skills that they would acquire from it very seriously.
He was quick to add that being a digitally skilled person could provide more opportunities to the individual as well as the community.
MTN Business Risk Manager at MTN Ghana, Forster Kplomdo who took the participants through Digital Ethics and the Responsible Use of Technology, urged the young entrepreneurs to be mindful of the way they use the internet.
In his welcome address, the Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Harry Opoku Agymang said: “As a young person living in times like this, you are uniquely positioned to not only adapt to the digital information currently ongoing but also to lead the way in shaping the future and we hope that today’s session has given you the confidence and tools to further explore this potential”.
He also encouraged them to keep learning, experimenting and growing their digital competences. What you have learned here today is the beginning. Remember, digital skills are not just about mastering toools, they are about opening doors to new opportunities and driving the charges you want to see the world, Mr Agyemang.
