MTN Ghana has deepened the capacity of journalists in use of social media/online media at a day’s training workshop in Accra.
The second workshop dubbed: ‘MTN Media Development Forum’ exposed the selected journalists to trends in the digital media space and how these can be used to increase engagement within the digital space .
A veteran journalist and media consultant, Kwasi Gyan Apenteng who took the participating journalists through investigating journalism urged them to pay attention to how resources are being used by the country’s government.
This he believes will let the people know how their taxes are being spent on development projects and others.
Mr Apenteng also encouraged journalists to at least publish one or two books on some of their investigative stories before they retire from active journalism career.
The Managing Director of PopOut Ghana, Maximus Ametorgoh who was one of the facilitators of the workshop focused on the effective use of social media to promote the work of journalists.
He advised journalists to always update their websites with quality contents, stressing that online media and social media must be engaging.
The participants at the workshop included selected online media editors, representatives of the Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA), Network of Communications Reporters (NCR), and Sports Writers Association of Ghana.
Thanking the journalists for their good comportment during the workshop, a Senior Manager, Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu said the next ‘MTN Media Development Forum’ would be held in July, this year.
