Accra, Ghana//-The growing activities of cybercrime and online fraud across the world especially in developing countries has reinvigorated the need for safer data communication.
As it is now, it seems criminals are using more cunning and more dubious ways to dig into people’s digital data and bleed their accounts dry.
For instance, according to the Bank of Ghana (BoG’s) latest data collated from the three sectors (banks, Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) indicate that the count of fraud cases recorded for 2022 was 15,164 and a total loss value of approximately GH¢82 million.
With respect to 2022, the top five fraud categories are-Cash theft (cash suppression), Cyber/email, Fraudulent withdrawals, Impersonation and E-Money frauds, in descending order.
The data which was compiled by the Financial Stability Department of the BoG from 01 January– 31 December 2022 revealed that electronic-money (E-money) recorded 149 cases in 2022, as compared to 116 cases recorded in 2021, an increase of 28.45% in year-on-year terms.
Although, this is not right, and it’s unfair, it is happening with alacrity. But the good news is that MTN SME Plus with its inbuilt Global System for Mobile (GSM) voice and data is the most secure system available for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or businesses.
According to officials of MTN Business, the MTN SME Plus is a prepaid service which provides customers with cost effective pricing.
The service which introduces lower cost on-net GSM Voice, Data, value-added service (VAS) and SMS bundles mainly targeted for the SMEs in Ghana and their counterparts in any part of Africa.
Also, customers who want to enjoy the service are required to migrate from their existing tariff plans to the SME Plus service where they will be able to choose and enjoy further discounts from any of the bundle products.
Additionally, further price advantage is available when a customer subscribes to the three types of packages which are- Classic (Monthly and Weekly Options); Super Package (Monthly and Weekly Options); and Premier Package (Monthly and Weekly Options).
Besides targeting SMEs, the MTN SME Plus also targets SOHO customers and corporates as well.
Some of its value propositions are free on-net calls on Mondays from 7am and 7pm, easy purchase of bundles via the USSD, no special account creation required, no manual intervention needed (self-service), and no limit on purchases.
So, SME Plus is one of the exciting products designed for SMEs, business-minded individuals who prefer to have prepaid accounts to manage their operational communication.
