KNUST’s Remarkable Rise: Dominating the Global Education Landscape from 2019 to 2023

Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana//-The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has solidified its position as a global leader in providing quality education, according to the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

The rankings, which evaluate universities based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), have consistently recognized KNUST’s outstanding contributions to education from 2019 to 2023.

In the latest 2023 Impact Rankings, KNUST emerged as the best university in the world for the provision of quality education (SDG 4).

This accolade is a testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment of excellence and inclusivity.

Out of the 1,591 universities from 112 countries/regions evaluated in the rankings, KNUST secured the top position globally, leaving an indelible mark with an exceptional score of 93.1.

The Impact Rankings, now in its fifth edition, offers comprehensive and impartial comparisons across four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

KNUST’s exceptional performance in these domains has set a new benchmark for universities worldwide.

The university’s unwavering dedication to early years and lifelong learning, research, and inclusive education has propelled it to surpass 1,303 out of 1,304 universities within the SDG 4 category.

This remarkable achievement in 2023 builds upon KNUST’s impressive track record. In the 2022 rankings, the university was already recognized as the number one institution in Africa and ranked 14th globally for SDG 4.

The significant leap to claim the top spot globally underscores KNUST’s relentless pursuit of educational excellence and its continuous improvement initiatives.

Beyond the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, KNUST’s dominance has been acknowledged by other renowned ranking agencies.

The US News and World Reports consistently ranked KNUST as the best university in West Africa and Ghana from 2019 to 2021, reinforcing its status as the premier educational institution in the region.
