Accra, Ghana, August 30, 2019//-Ghana’s 2020 National Daily Minimum Wage has been increased by 11 percent to GHC11.82 effective 1st January 2020, after the National Tripartite Committee negotiations meeting on Monday 26, August 2019.
The committee therefore directed that all establishments, institutions or organizations whose daily minimum wage is begged below the daily minimum wage should adjust it accordingly.
A statement signed by the Minister of Employment, Ignatious Baffuor Awuah, President of the Ghana Employers Association, Daniel Acheampong and Dr. Yaw Baah, TUC Secretary-General warned: “Any establishment, institution or organization that flouts the new rate shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.”
The National Daily Minimum Wage should be tax-exempt, it recommended.
