GHANA’S National Communications Authority (NCA) is moving faster to solve the ongoing cash fight between MTN Ghana and Expresso.
The CEO of MTN Ghana Serame Taukobong revealed that the matter has been reported to the NCA who are doing all they could to resolve the matter.
“We hope the issue will be resolved as soon as possible. It can only be resolved if Expresso shows commitment to honor their financial obligations”, he stated.
The two telecom operators’ brawl became public knowledge last week after MTN announced, its customers would not receive calls from Expresso effective, first of November this year, due to uncontrollable circumstances.
The CEO of MTN Serame Taukobong says Expresso’s inability to settle debts owed MTN pushed his company to terminate the service.
Taukobong apologized to customers of MTN and said Expresso must honor its financial commitment to MTN.
“It borders on customer service experience. Unfortunately it is a combination of financial and regulatory issues, so we’ve tried to as much as possible minimize, the impact on MTN costumers.”
The Chief Commercial Officer of Expresso Ghana, Freddie Quainoo said despite the challenges the telecom operator hopes to come back strong soon.
According to him their ‘main challenge is their affiliation with Sudan and Sudatel, which has made it difficult to raise capital locally and internationally and deal with vendors, adding : “So we need to look at our structure so we can deal with these challenges”.
