Ghana: Maggie Wealthy Foundation Supports Shelter For Abused Children

Accra, Ghana//-Maggie Wealthy Foundation, a leading charity organization has supported the Osu-based Shelter for Abused Children with varied items to help improve the wellbeing of the children.

The items comprising bags of rice, drinks, toilet rolls, biscuits, and cartons of water, among others were donated to the Shelter on Sunday 27, June 2021.

Some of the children also won gift items in various competitions organised for them by the Foundation, while food and drinks were shared among all the children in the home.

Presenting the items to the Shelter, the Founder of the Maggie Wealthy Foundation, Ms Margaret Tekpor said there had been media reports about abuse of children due to lack of love and care which really depressed kids,

 “So we have to fulfill that need by spending quality time with the children, playing games, partying and giving them various items”, she said.

The items

Ms Tekpor used the occasion to appeal to the children to be of good behaviour and take their studies very seriously to enable them to excel in education.

Touching on the foundation, she noted: “Maggie Wealthy Foundation was registered in Ghana in 2020 June with our core mandate of showing compassion where needed. We have our offices in Sakumono, Tema and a highly effective and intelligent team”.

We identify and support orphans and the elderly in society by offering health support, education support, physical support, mental support and financial support”, Ms Tekpor added.

Receiving the items on behalf of Madam Gifty who is in charge of the Shelter, Madam Freda Annor thanked the Maggie Wealthy Foundation for coming to their aid even in this covid-19 era when things are tough for everyone.

Alhaji Dr Gamel A-Nasser Salifu, an economics lecturer at GIMPA and a specialist in welfare economics who likes to participate in programs that help to improve the welfare of the vulnerable/needy kids and elderly, collaborated with the Maggie Wealthy Foundation to make the care project a success.
