Ghana: High Commission of India Holds Festival With Exciting Performances

Accra, Ghana//- The High Commission of India in Accra has held another festival dubbed India Fest 2025, attracting over 3000 Indians and their Ghanaian counterparts.

The event, which took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 18, had been described as one of Accra’s most anticipated cultural events.

The dazzling India Fest 2025 was graced by the High Commissioner of India to Ghana, H.E. Manish Gupta, and Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, among several attendees who turned to celebrate the Indian heritage, culture, and cuisine.

In short speeches, both traced the historical, cultural and economic ties of the two countries with a shared goal and shared vision.

The festival began with the Indian traditional lighting and was followed by a series of captivating dance performances that thrilled the patrons of the event.

The performances were not only about India. Ghanaian artists joined the fray and delighted the crowd with Bollywood dance performances, creating a lively fusion of Indian and Ghanaian cultural expressions that evoked rounds of applause and enthusiastic cheers.

These performances energised the atmosphere with a blend of Indian and Ghanaian beats, keeping attendees joyfully celebrating the rhythm.

Cultural showcases witnessed during the night included a variety of performances by Indian community associations, featuring traditional music and theatrical displays that highlighted the diversity of India’s cultural heritage.

Businesses used the occasion to offer attendees a glimpse into India’s artistic legacy, showcasing an array of artifacts, sculptures, paintings, traditional attire, and jewelry.

Some also used the opportunity to taste Indian cuisine. It was delight to watch the attendees enjoying an authentic Indian cuisine, savouring dishes that spanned India’s regional flavours—from spicy street food to mouth-watering sweets—providing a memorable highlight of the event.

An Indian Bazaar added another layer of cultural immersion, featuring stalls with traditional crafts, clothing, and jewelry. This bustling marketplace allowed attendees to take home unique items reflecting India’s rich cultural tapestry.

It is therefore an undeniable that fact this year’s India Fest successfully brought together people from all walks of life, enhancing Accra’s cultural landscape and reinforcing the strong bond between India and Ghana.

The attendees including journalists left with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation for India’s heritage, ensuring that India Fest 2025, the second edition remains a cherished and celebrated event in Accra’s cultural calendar.
