Ghana: Forces Pay Regiment Working to Reduce Accommodation Deficit

Accra, Ghana, December 23, 2019//-The Forces Pay Regiment (FRP), a fruitful trustee of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is vigorously tackling one of the major challenges facing the unit, with the provision of accommodation and office expansions.

The transformation in the unit has had 4-block 20-room accommodation completed for personnel as well as a lots of old structures been renovated.

Similarly,  the Commanding Officer of the Forces Pay Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Theophilus Oswold Afotey Laryea addressing personnel at the unit’s end of year get together at the Burma Camp, said adding more rooms to the existing accommodation was on his drawing board come next year.

The funky end of year get together was dubbed “Delivering innovative and efficient service to sustain the morale of Ghana Armed Forces”

He acknowledged the remarkable roles played by his predecessors, Lt Col Ababio Serebour, Brigadier Anthony Dziz (rtd), Col Sampana Babllah and Brigadier General Daniel Kofi Amissah for their contribution in solving the unit’s accommodation problem.

Although he was appointed as the Acting Officer just this June 14th, one of the major strives he has achieved was the introduction of technology in their operations.

“My assessment was that we needed to create a conducive environment for the staff. We needed more rooms for people because of the increase numbers, we are working towards that. We have also introduced technology in the way we work for convenience of the Personnel.

“We have just commissioned the Artisan office, fenced the accommodation site, extension and beautification of our yard. Lots of the personnel are taking new courses to improve on their working efficiencies,” Lt Col Laryea stressed.

On building the capacities of personnel, he addedmthst apart the normal military career courses, “we are also sending them to undertake other courses to make them more efficient.”

On overall performance of the office, the Ag Commanding Officer stated tbat throughout the year the personnel remained poised, focused and delivered on their mandate of timely payment of salaries and other entitlements.

“The contribution of our personnel in the achievement of this year’s milestone cannot be underestimated. Personnel worked tirelessly and often invest extra hours and effort to ensure this achievement of the unit’s mission,” he added.

Lt Col Laryea who received to mantle from Brig Gen Amissah,  now Defence Financial Comptroller, explained that the theme for the celebration was selected based on the important role innovation and efficiency play in good service delivery.

“…we are actually aware that good service delivery, especially from our regiment would help sustain the morale of personnel in The Ghana Armed Forces,” he added.

The guest speaker, Col Wilberforce Seth Kwaku Agbee on his part thanked the personnel for working so hard to protect the image of the unit and officers also for the infrastructure advancement.

Hardworking and deserving personnel and civilian employees were awarded.
