
The Nsawam District Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers after two men were abducted while travelling from Accra to Anyinam.
The victims have since been rescued unharmed.
Police reports state that the Nsawam Command was informed on January 10, 2026, that two men had been abducted and transported to an unidentified location.
According to reports, the kidnappers demanded GH¢400,000 from the victims’ relatives in exchange for their release.
The accused ordered the family to submit an initial deposit of GH¢5,000 after negotiations.
In response to the information, the police acted quickly, with assistance from the Suhum Police, and lured the five suspects to a bar near the Suhum Roundabout, where they were taken into custody.
Suleman Salifu, 24; Godfred Owusu, 26; Antwi Bismark, 27; Anas Salis, 38; and Gyamfi Isaac, 33, are the suspects.
During the operation, the victims, Ibrahim Alhassan, 42, and Seidu Sambiane, 28, were rescued.
A check of the unregistered Acura 4×4 vehicle used by the suspects led to the recovery of a number of items, including cash worth GH¢4,600, specimen papers cut to the size of banknotes, and an unknown quantity of counterfeit GH¢100 and GH¢200 currency notes.

Five cell phones, a pistol, a cutlass, talismans, and amulets were also found by the police.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
