Ghana: Dr Omane Boamah Prays For Health Minister’s Recovery

Accra, Ghana, June 14, 2020//-Former Minister of Communication in the erstwhile Mahama government, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has prayed for Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister for Health who is battling with COVID-19 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after testing positive for the virus.

 He said: “We pray for all who have been afflicted and affected; God hear our prayers”.

“I Wish Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister for Health well as he recovers from his ailment”, Dr Boamah who is medical doctor said in a short twitter message.

The Dormaa Central MP is said to be receiving treatment at the plush hospital built by the previous Mahama administration for some time now and he is in stable condition.

The 64-year-old Health Minister had tested positive on Tuesday for the disease some time but was only brought to the hospital week.

Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister for Health

Mr Agyeman-Manu who was elected to serve on a 34-member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) some days ago, has taken some days off and has since not been seen at work, according to the Ministry of Health.

He is the latest government official to test positive for COVID-19 after the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu Ankomah on April 10, in the UK.

The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Anothony Kobina Kurentsi Sam has died of the deadly disease.

Fear grips cabinet and Parliament

Meanwhile, reports say fear has gripped the Akufo-Addo led cabinet and Parliament over the Health Minister’s contracting of the virus, because he attended cabinet meetings some few days ago.

According to the reports, top officials at the Ministry of Health and government officials, have been asked to self-isolate as their blood samples are being tested for the disease.

COVID-19 Statistics 

At the time of this publication, confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana have moved to 11,118, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS)The total number of deaths caused by the deadly pandemic in the country stood at 48 while recoveries stood at 3,979.
