
Accra, Ghana//-The winners of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), Mfantsipim School, today paid a courtesy call on the CEO of MobileMoney Limited (MML) and his executives at the company’s head office in Accra.
The 15-member NSMQ winner team, led by Samuel Narte Ajor, Associate Client Service Director of Prime Time, organisers of the annual NSMQ, was at the company to thank the CEO of MobileMoney, Shaibu Haruna and his executives for their support and sponsorship.
MML partnered with the 2025 NSMQ as a sponsor of the regional championships and the Money Zone segment in the national championship.
Welcoming the champions at a short event, Mr Haruna, on behalf of the board and management of MML, thanked the team and Prime Time for the opportunity to partner with them in the competition.
“For us, we appreciate the role that Prime Time has played over the years in making sure that you deliver every single year in a very successful competition”, he said.
According to Mr Haruna, the National Science and Maths Quiz is more than just a quiz event. The spirit of it and the exhibition of excellence, and also the challenge that it presents to our youth, is quite inspiring.
This is because every young person, regardless of which school they attend, wants to participate in this wonderful event.
“For us, that connection with science, maths and by extension Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is very important.
At the core of what we do at MobileMoney is financial technology, and the engine that drives financial technology is the science, is the technology aspect, and the engineering that it embodies, and for us, nurturing such talent is very important”, he said.
“MobileMoney Ltd, as you know, is a subsidiary of MTN Ghana. Our role is to deliver financial inclusion through the platform that we operate, which is a mobile money service that almost every Ghanaian today leverages on.
“So, I want to say a very big congratulations to your team for such an achievement, and I also want to recognise the silent roles of your teachers, your mentors, as well as the school and the old boys association who have also supported in endeavours ways in encouraging you and inspiring you to this great height.
The Chief Commercial Operations Officer of MobileMoney LTD, Abdul Razak Issaka Ali, thanked the NSMQ for offering the opportunity to be part of this great event.
“ I think the platform that this provides for us to be able further our financial inclusion and gender to be able to educate people is quite big and important for us. So, thank you very much for that.
Obviously, when the opportunity came for us to be a sponsor, it was a no-brainer for us again. Not just because of the platform but also because of our responsibility to support the youth and also education of the youth, which we think NSMQ is one of the phases of youth education in Ghana”, he explained.

Mr Ali said it was right for the company to be part of the Money Zone of the competition. For us, that was a key for us to be able to sponsor, he added.
Mr Ali also joined others to congratulate the team, saying, “The team really did a very good job, and thank you for the opportunity to be part of the competition”.
The company also provided electronic cash rewards and gifts for winners of the Money Zone segment from the quarter final stage through to the grand finale.
All contesting schools received cash prizes based on points earned in each contest.
The other executives of MML took turns to occasion to offer career advice to the winners of the competition.
Responding, the champions of the competition thanked the CEO and the executives of MML for their support.
Mfantsipim School successfully defended its crown to win the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), claiming back-to-back glory and its fourth national title in front of an ecstatic crowd at the University of Cape Coast on 6th November 2025.
The grand finale, dubbed the ‘battle of the giants’, brought together three of Ghana’s most decorated schools, such as AUGUSCO, OWASS, and the Mfantsipim School.
Instructively, the National Science and Maths Quiz launched its 2025 edition in mid-October with a record-breaking 174 participating schools, the highest number in the competition’s history.
The contest began with preliminary stages running from October 20 to 24, followed by the One Eighth stage from October 26 to 28. The quarter final took place on October 30, with the semi-final scheduled for November 3 and the grand finale set for November 6.
