Ex-President Heads ECOWAS Election Mission To Nigeria

 J.A KufuorEX-Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor will, on Tuesday, 28 October, lead a delegation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to begin a three-day pre-Election Fact-Finding Mission of Nigeria.

The trip is to assess Nigeria’s preparedness ahead of its general elections in 2015.

Mr Kufuor who is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia will leave that country on Tuesday to Abuja where his mission will engage President Goodluck Jonathan and various political stakeholders to access the state of preparedness for Nigeria’s general elections next year.

The delegation will also meet with the Chairmen and National General Secretaries of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All People’s Congress (APC).

The mission is also expected to meet the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, and the Inspector General of Police, among others.

The former President Kufour is currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as the head of a delegation of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) for discussions on possible ways of funding with the Chairperson and officials of the African Union.
