
Accra, Ghana, June 13, 2020//-Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor is the best candidate to represent Old Tafo Constituency of the Ashanti Region on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This is because she is an all-rounder who will bring her expertise in different fields to champion a more inclusive development of the constituency.
Therefore Dr Serwaa, who is competing with five other aspirants for the Old Tafo Constituency, stands tall above them. She is capable of unifying the rank and file of the constituency.
So, delegates who are voting at the upcoming Parliamentary primaries on Saturday, June 20, 2020 should endeavour to vote for her to continue the good work of the current Member of Parliament (MP), Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, who is stepping down after decades of service to the constituents and the country at large.
When African Eye Report caught up with Dr Serwaa Donkor, she did not hide her genuine desire in wanting to represent her people and the party in the House of the Legislature.
If she wins the parliamentary primaries, the workaholic Dr Serwaa Donkor will work assiduously to triple the votes of the party and its flagbearer President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the December election.
The Old Tafo Constituency which is part of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has been one of the strongholds of the governing NPP since the Fourth Republic and even beyond.
Projects to be implemented if she gets the nod
Dr Serwaa Donkor who is not new to the issues confronting the constituency, when given the nod she pledged to embark on numerous development projects to improve the lives of the constituents.
Welfare Fund for polling stations
Under her watch, she will establish a welfare fund for the wealth and empowerment of all polling station executives in the Old Tafo Constituency. Also, healthcare support will be given to them all.
Set up functional MP’s Office
In a bid to bring accountable governance to the doorsteps of the people, Dr Serwaa Donkor promised to a functional MP’s Office in the constituency.
She is committed to hold Townhall meetings regularly to take their inputs into government policies and also explain the various policies and issues that happen in all parliamentary sessions. While, support for the constituency party office will be enhanced if she becomes the MP.
Job creation
Job creation is one of the important issues which is dear to her heart. To this end, Dr Serwaa Donkor will lead the way on “graduate jobs” by instituting job application support for unemployed graduates in the constituency.
She pledged to liaise with the public and civil services and other government agencies to get employment opportunities for the people.
Grow talents
Furthermore, the Ghana Institute of Journalism lecturer and presidential staffer promised to grow the talents in the constituency.
Dr Serwaa Donkor will do this by establishing a football academy to train the children, create opportunities for football clubs to recruit, and support football galas in the constituency.
Scholarship schemes
She will establish students’ scholarship schemes to support brilliant but needy students to pursue tertiary institutions in the country.
In addition to this, an educational centre will be set up to give after school support and guidance to school leavers in the constituency.
As a transformational leader who believes in the power of entrepreneurship in providing financial solutions, Dr Serwaa Donkor pledged to create a database of artisans in the constituency and connect them to opportunities.

Her education background
She holds Ph.D and teaches and researches on the broad areas of gender politics and media. Dr Serwaa Donkor previously taught at University of Liverpool and Birmingham City University International College, United Kingdom.
She is the Founding Director of Aya Institute for Women, Politics and Media – a research and training institute for gender equality.
Aya Institute spearheads Gender Watch – a compendium of Baseline Studies; and Add Your Story, a gender based discrimination and sexual harassment project.
Dr Serwaa Donkor has consulted for the World Bank, GIZ and Women Thrive Worldwide.
She was in residence at Howard University (US) and McGill University (Canada) undertaking research on feminist political communications in 2013 and 2014.
