COVID-19: Ghana Records First Death

Accra, March 21, 2020//-Ghana’s Deputy Health Minister, Alex K. Abban this evening confirmed that one of the 19 persons infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in  the country has died. This is Ghana’s first fatality of the of the pandemic.

Mr Abban who broke the news on GhOne TV news mentioned the deceased as a Kumasi-based 61-year-old Lebanese trader.

He died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti regional capital after he was confirmed of having the disease on March 19, 2020.

“He felt unwell and reported to a health facility with fever (temp 39.4 ℃), and cough. The sample tested positive for COVID-19,” an update by the Ghana Health Service said.
