MTN Ghana Thrills Customers at Silverbird Cinema

untitled (7)Customers of MTN Ghana turned out in their numbers to watch yet another action packed blockbuster, ‘Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation’ at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra, yesterday.

They described the experience after the movie directed by Christopher McQuire as one of the best movies they ever watched.

A student of the University of Ghana, Maame Abena Nkansah who could not hide her excitement over the movie, which saw Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his teammates re-united for the sequel in which they attempted to take down a secret International Organization known as the syndicate, recommended to every Ghanaian to watch the movie.

Another MTN customer, Emmanuel Kissi who is also a young businessman told the publication that he had to close his mobile phones and accessories shop at the Central Business District of Accra on time and drove to the venue to watch “the freshest movie in town”.

When asked why he was too curious to watch the movie which was released in July 2015, he explained that a friend of his living United States had early aroused his (Kissi) interest on the must-watch blockbuster.

“So, like any other MTN customer, I sent a text “movies” to short code 1365 to enable me win ticket to watch movies”, Kissi gladly stated with beaming smiles.

The telecommunications giants partnered with the Silverbird Cinema to premiere the movie which attracted its customers from all social and economic status. Introduced five years ago, the MTN Movie Mania is a platform meant basically to offer its subscribers the opportunity to engage its customers for their loyalty.

The Movie Mania comes off three times in a month – twice at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra and once in Kumasi. According to the Acting Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Mrs. Georgina Fiagbenu, the telecommunication giant is committed to going beyond the provision of telecom services to reward customers with entertainment packages.

Prior to the screening of the night movie, officials of MTN Ghana used the occasion as part of the ongoing MTN Mobile Money Month to educate the people on mobile money service activations, its benefits, among others.

For the past four years, MTN Ghana has dedicated the month of August to Mobile Money to create awareness about the service and highlight the importance of creating a cashless economy.

The month-long celebration which is under the theme ‘Mobile Money, driving financial inclusion in Ghana’ summarises the overall objective of this year’s celebration.

The number of activities outlined to mark the month include-MTN Mobile Money Stakeholder Workshop, SME Drive, Market/Community Activations, and merchant fora.

The mobile operator emphasised that in an effort to bring mobile money services to the doorsteps of subscribers, the mobile operator had had partnered a number of local banks including Access Bank, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Cal Bank, Ecobank, Fidelity, GT Bank, Universal Merchant Bank, Stanbic, UBA and Zenith.

MTN Ghana, which is the largest telecom network, is available across Ghana in all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and key villages and towns in the country, so as the mobile money or mobile banking platform. It is available in all the over 77 MTN service centres and 19,500 mobile money merchants doted across the country.

Also, “the service enables MTN Mobile Money customers with the help of partners like Lyca, WorldRemit and Xpress Money and several others to receive money from abroad instantly on their phones. Ghanaians in UK, Australia, Switzerland, Qatar, etc are able to send money to their relatives and friends via the service”, the General Manager of Capital Project Group at MTN Ghana, William Tettey stated  at the launch this week.

MTN Mobile Money users can pay their DSTV and ECG bills and school fees, purchase airline tickets, as well as pay for goods purchased at Melcom Plus, Max Mart and other online shops. With MTN Mobile Money, we can deliver financial services at affordable costs to all segments of the Ghanaian society, according to him.
