Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in Ghana Jump to 16

Accra, Ghana, March 20, 2020//-The novel Coronavirus cases in Ghana have jumped to 16 from 11, according to Ghana Health Service’s website dedicated to updating people on COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country.

According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), all five were reported from the Greater Accra Region.

Whilst three of the five new cases have no travel history.

29-year-old Ghanaian lady; resident of Accra has no history of travel but sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.

Also, 34-year-old Ghanaian lady resident of Accra contracted the disease by contacting a confirmed case (victim) at her place of work.

Another 53-year-old Ghanaian male, resident of Tema; no history of travel, no evidence of close contact with confirmed case; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory

41-year-old Ghanaian male; arrived in Ghana by KLM on the 15 March 2020; indicated exposure with family members in Amsterdam exhibiting respiratory symptoms and also on the flight with some passengers sneezing and coughing; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.

Lastly, 36-year-old Ghanaian male; resident of Paris, France; date of arrival in Ghana unconfirmed; no evidence of contact with infected person.
