Accra, Ghana, December 24, 2018//-Showing sign of appreciation for a job well done in 2018 to its staff, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana, one of the leading financial institutions in the country, on Friday 22 December, 2018, awarded deserving staff.
Speaking at the well-attended end of year party and awards night, Mrs. Abiola Bawuah, the Regional Chief Executive Officer (RCEO) for West Africa 1 thanked the staff of the bank for their yeoman job.
“You must be proud of being with UBA Ghana. Our bank will be in operation next year, while other banks will not be in operation next year”. This is because those banks can’t meet Bank of Ghana’s GHC400 million minimum capital requirement by December 31, 2018.
Mrs Bawuah who was recently elevated to the West Africa 1 office in charge of six African countries including Ghana, said: “My journey from Deputy Managing Director (DMD), MD/CEO of UBA Ghana to RCEO West Africa 1, was made possible by you the staff”.
She specially thanked the Deputy Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Soni Anwal and Peter Dery, one of the managers of the bank for their continuous support.
Mrs Bawuah urged the staff to stay with the bank, stressing: “2019 will be a great year for the bank”.
She used the occasion to introduce the incoming MD/CEO of UBA Ghana, Isong Amos Udom and appealed to the staff to give him their maximum support.
In a short message, Mr Udom said: “Let’s work as a team to achieve greater heights in 2019 and beyond”. He also commended the staff of the bank for the wonderful job.

On his part, the Deputy Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Soni Anwal said: “2018 has been an eventual year for the bank. A lot of things happen this year”.
He emphasized: “While other banks were struggling to the meet the BoG’s minimum capital requirement by importing capital from their parent banks and other places, we at UBA Ghana didn’t import any capital from anywhere. We raised our minimum capital right here in Ghana”.
This Mr Anwal attributed to the hard work of the staff and assured them that they would receive their bonuses by June next year.
