Dr Samuel Ato Duncan, a leading Ghanaian doctor has developed a drug for potential cure for the dreadful HIV/AIDS which claimed millions of lives globally.
“We want the whole world to know that this is wholly inspired by our own effort and vision here in Ghana, and by extension Africa”, he told journalists at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday October 5, 2016.
“Why must we always import ideas and solutions from elsewhere? This morning, we are saying loudly that, YES WE CAN. We welcome all those who wish to work with us to further develop this product but we want it to remain a Ghanaian and African initiative”, Dr Duncan stated.
The drug called COA Drug which is a traditional herbal medicine has its efficacy tested by the Noguchi Memorial Institute of the University of Ghana, a leading research institution in West Africa.
The drug is currently at the World Health Organisation (WHO) waiting for approval, according to Dr Duncan has the potency to smoke out all the HIV/AIDS virus in the affected person’s body when admitted orally.
How it started
Dr Duncan who is also the President of the Centre Of Awareness (COA), an NGO revealed: “The quest for the cure of HIV/AIDS started when all the 53 patients we adopted died of the disease”.
“Personally, the last straw was when our last patient, a lady called Mercy said to us on her sickbed with tears oozing from her eyes, “my brothers and sisters, this sickness called HIV/AIDS is painful, nobody should contract it”.
