Colombo, Sri Lanka//Dr Aynalem Abayneh Mamo, Vice President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA), concluded a series of high-level bilateral discussions today with key Sri Lankan trade institutions and private sector entities in Colombo.
Dr Mamo arrived in Colombo on 30 August 2026 to participate as a delegate at the Gem City Ratnapura 2026 exhibition.
During his visit, Dr Mamo met with Mr Shiran Fernando, CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, at the Chamber Headquarters. Their bilateral dialogue centred on formalising private-sector cooperation between Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, including plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and establish a joint business council to strengthen commercial ties, trade, and investment flows between the two nations.
Following his meeting at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Dr Mamo met with Mr Erandika Dissanayake, Director General at the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), to discuss focused on joint strategic plans and proposals to facilitate the participation of Ethiopian entrepreneurs, trade delegations, and commercial enterprises in the upcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027. Ms. Anoma Premarathne, Expo Consultant, Ms. Indumini Kodikara, Director – Export Services and Ms. Udeni Wijekoon, Acting Director – Market Development also present during the meeting.
Additionally, Dr. Mamo engaged in direct business-to-business (B2B) networking sessions, meeting with several prominent Sri Lankan business entities representing the gem, mining, and coconut sectors to foster direct commercial linkages, partnerships, and supply chain collaboration.
