Bank of Ghana Inaugurates Non-Interest Financial Advisory Council

Members of the Council

Accra, Ghana//-The Bank of Ghana has inaugurated the Non-Interest Financial Advisory Council (NIFAC) to support the orderly development, regulation, and supervision of non-interest banking and finance in Ghana.

The Council will advise the Bank on the governance, regulation, and supervision of Non-Interest Banking Institutions, and support the development of a sound, inclusive, and credible non-interest finance ecosystem.

Speaking at the inauguration on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at the Bank Square, Governor Johnson Pandit Asiama emphasised the importance of strong governance, consumer protection, and public confidence in growing the sector.

“The number of new products introduced will not measure the success of this initiative, but by whether those products are sound, useful, and worthy of public confidence.”

The Governor asked NIFAC members to carry out their mandate with independence, objectivity, professionalism, and diligence, for the integrity of the financial framework, the soundness of the financial system, and the public interest.
