Vivo Energy Ghana Champions Inclusion with Donation to National Amputee Football Association

Accra, Ghana// –Vivo Energy Ghana PLC, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has extended support in the form of a cash donation to the Ghana National Amputee Football Association as part of its 2026 Sustainability Week celebration.

 

Held under the theme “Kicking Off for Sustainability,” the initiative was made possible through the collective contributions of employees, complemented by additional financial support from the company.

With the upcoming FIFA World Cup, this theme is a reminder of the unifying power of sport as a catalyst for inclusion, resilience, and shared humanity.

The initiative further aligns with Vivo Energy’s vision to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business, demonstrating its commitment to creating meaningful social impact beyond its core operations.

Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, Corporate Communications Manager, underscored sustainability as a key pillar of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, noting that the partnership with the Ghana National Amputee Football Association aligns strongly with the company’s commitment to empowering communities and promoting inclusion.

“We are here today as part of our Sustainability Week Celebration. Sustainability remains a key focus area of our ESG agenda, and we are proud to support the Ghana National Amputee Football Association. This donation reaffirms our belief in inclusion, community support, and the power of resilience,” she said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana National Amputee Football Association, Mr Emmanuel Apkabli, Director of Welfare, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Vivo Energy Ghana for the gesture.

He thanked the company for selecting the Association among many sporting federations in Ghana, describing the support as a strong recognition of the team’s dedication, achievements, and contribution to disability sports.

He further emphasised the importance of inclusion and recognition for persons with disabilities, noting that such interventions strengthen their sense of belonging within the national sporting fraternity.

“This gesture makes us proud and reminds us that we are also part and parcel of the national teams. We promise the nation that we will continue to work hard and bring glory to Ghana,” he added.
