Accra, Ghana//-Students and teachers from Jamiat Alhidaya Islamic Girls Senior High School in Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana have paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, at Parliament House.
The delegation, led by Titus Dumbu, used the opportunity to brief the Speaker on some of the challenges confronting the school.
According to him, the institution is in urgent need of key infrastructure, including a fence wall, improved washroom facilities, and additional dormitory space to support the growing number of students.
Speaker Bagbin expressed delight at the visit and commended the students and teachers for taking the initiative to visit him.
He assured the delegation that he would support efforts to construct a fence wall and provide improved washroom facilities for the school.
Mr Bagbin also used the occasion to educate the students on the role of Parliament in Ghana’s governance, describing it as the central institution of democracy.

“Parliament is the house of democracy, and the main feature of democracy is Parliament,” he said.
He further encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and work hard to achieve greater heights in their academic and future professional pursuits.
