Accra, Ghana//-MTN Ghana, which is noted for embarking on ambitious innovative strategies to drive customer experience and growth of its brand, is once again on another strategy.
To this end, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, recently revealed that after a successfully completion of the Ambition of 2025, the company and its MTN Group are transitioning to the Ambition 2030 strategy.
The objectives of MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which was anchored on building the largest and most valuable platform business with a clear focus on Africa, that was underpinned by five growth platforms, had been met with satisfaction.
While the MTN’s Ambition 2030 strategy is built around three core platforms, namely connectivity, fintech, and digital infrastructure, aiming to expand internet access in Ghana and across the Group’s other subsidiaries in Africa.
It also includes deepening financial inclusion and scaling up digital services to meet growing demand in Ghana and beyond.
He told journalists at the 2026 MTN Ghana Media and Stakeholder Forum that MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL), which is the subsidiary of MTN Ghana, has always been operating separately, and most customers feel it.
“We used to have five growth platforms during our Ambition 2025 Strategy. For Ambition 2030, it is down to three platforms”, Mr Blewett said.
Three platforms, he mentioned, are connectivity, fintech, and digital infrastructure, which the CEO jokingly described as “trinity”.
“So, we look like a digital trinity. One company in three manifestations. That is seriously true. Because there is one MTN in which all the dependency is on.
From a customer point of view, it will never be different. But from a focus point of view, it is very important to have these three. Because, it allows focus on different things.
Mr Blewett, however, explained, “that is where a lot of companies struggle to fail. They try to create special focus through departments. It doesn’t work like that. If you have focused businesses, they will then deliver on that”.
He continued, they at MTN believe that the way it is structured will give an ultimate better experience.
Speaking further with broadcast journalist Bernard Avle, the MTN Ghana CEO was emphatic that the aggressive strategy would drive digital growth, expand network infrastructure and eventually improve service quality, as MTN positions itself for long-term expansion under the Ambition 2030 Strategy.
The forum, which was on the theme “MTN Ghana @30: Connecting Ghana, Shaping the Digital Future”, allowed Mr Blewett to engage and interact with various stakeholder groups, share updates on the company’s performance and discuss opportunities being explored as part of MTN’s strategy.
According to him, digital services are rising as a major revenue driver, contributing 2 per cent in recent years from below 1.3 percent.
He noted that the mobile gaming sector holds one of the most promising growth areas, particularly among Africa’s youth.
Whereas traditional console gaming, which has remained out of reach for many as a result of cost barriers, the shift to mobile platforms is driving adoption rapidly.
The focus is on online and multiplayer gaming, not betting, which Mr Blewett described as “the next big curve” in digital services.
To this end, MTN Ghana aims to support the broader gaming ecosystem by enabling local developers to launch and scale up their products, especially those creating culturally relevant content within Ghanaian society.
While noting that the growth of such services will depend heavily on continued investment in connectivity and data infrastructure.
