Accra, Ghana, April 16, 2020//-Former Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has sent best wishes to the 313,837 final year Senior High School (SHS) students, who began their final examinations from Monday, July 20, 2020.
The West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which is both for selection to tertiary institutions and for certification, began today, almost four-weeks after the final year SHS students returned to school on June 22.
This follows months of homestay due to the devastating COVID-19 which claimed several lives and also disrupted human and economic activities in Ghana and across the world.
Dr Omane Boamah said: “I wish our children and junior brothers and sisters who are beginning their SHS final exams the best of luck and retentive memory.
Writing exams during COVID-19 pandemic is not my wish for you; but Government decided otherwise instead of relying on your continuous assessment to grade you”.
SHS 3 candidates, please be of good cheer and offer your best. Also, maintain strict hygiene before, during and after the exams, Dr Omane Boamah who is also a medical doctor, advised.
“It is my fervent prayer that the candidates and the invigilators who will distribute the exams papers wash their hands with soap under running water before they enter the exams hall”.
“I wish you the best of luck! Pass with flying colours to make our nation proud. I wish you a brighter and successful future”, he concluded.
