Kinshasa, DRC//-The Trans Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign, a Pan-African initiative advocating for visa-free travel across Africa, has received a significant boost with the official endorsement from the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This brings the total number of endorsing countries to eight, highlighting the campaign’s growing momentum across the continent.
Led by former Ghanaian legislator Ras Mubarak, the campaign aims to promote seamless intra-African travel, cultural exchange, tourism, and economic integration, aligning closely with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The DRC’s endorsement is a testament to the country’s commitment to regional cooperation and development.
“We believe in the transformative power of tourism to unite our continent and foster economic growth. By removing visa barriers and promoting intra-African travel, we can unlock new opportunities for our people and showcase Africa’s rich cultural heritage to the world,” the Tourism Minister of DRC H. E. Didier Mazenga Mukanzu, said.
Speaking at the meeting, Ras Mubarak said the “DRC is home to some of the world’s most valuable minerals, including cobalt, copper, diamonds, gold, tin, and coltan. If managed well, these resources could comfortably support the rest of Africa for years to come.”
He added that it’s time for Africans to take control of their own destiny. “We must resist foreign interference and exploitation, and work together to build a brighter future for our continent.
The people of the DRC, and indeed all Africans, deserve dignity, respect, and accountability from leaders and from foreign powers that seek to influence their affairs.”
