MTN Wishes Ghana 59Th Independence Anniversary

MTN has congratulated the Government and people of Ghana on the celebration of 59 years of independence.

The journey of Ghana’s nationhood has been characterized by growth and development milestones that demonstrate the country’s strengths.

As the first nation in Sub-Saharan Africa to attain independence, Ghana has also been a trail blazer in charting a technological course to development.

These were contained in a statement issued by the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mrs Cynthia Lumor to mark Ghana’s 59th independence anniversary on Sunday 6 March, 2016.

MTN is honored to be a key player in this growth progression with network investments of over USD 2.5 billion dollars that keep 16 million subscribers connected, over 500,000 jobs created through our supply chain and over GH₵21 million  in Corporate  Social Investments. These and our direct and indirect contributions in taxes and levies have immensely contributed to Ghana’s economic development, according to the statement.

It stated: “On the occasion of Ghana’s 59th independence anniversary, MTN wishes to assure Ghanaians that we remain steadfast in our commitment to be an important part of Ghana’s ongoing development efforts and digital objectives”.

“MTN pledges  to continuously invest in new technologies and upgrades that will ensure that access to 2G, 3G, 4G, fibre and an IP-based network remains the path to endless opportunities for individuals and businesses. In pursuing the path of digital inclusiveness we will also focus on expanding our Mobile Money services in order to contribute to the achievement of a cashlite economy”.

At the heart of our drive for digital transformation in Ghana is our commitment to promote socio-economic development of Ghanaians, especially in the areas of Education, Health and Economic Empowerment, statement noted.
